Plan solar maintenance before the installation
A practical handover checklist for monitoring, cleaning access, warranty documents and maintenance responsibilities.

Agree access and responsibilities
Cleaning and servicing need safe access. Discuss access routes, roof restrictions and the responsible site representative during design. At schools, hospitals and pharmaceutical facilities, maintenance visits should fit the site’s access procedures and operating schedule.
Know what your monitoring shows
Ask the installer to explain normal generation readings, inverter status messages and whom to call if output stops. Compare performance over appropriate periods instead of expecting the same output every day. Site conditions and weather affect production.
Follow equipment instructions
Use the manufacturers’ cleaning and maintenance instructions and the agreed service scope. Damaged wiring, electrical faults and inverter servicing should be handled by qualified personnel. Building staff should not improvise repairs or access unsafe roof areas.
Keep a complete handover record
Keep equipment model and serial details, invoices, warranty documents, approved drawings, commissioning information and service contacts together. Clarify whether cleaning, monitoring reviews, call-outs and replacement labour are included in your maintenance arrangement.
