Assess the land and energy requirement
Start with the site location, available land area, intended electricity use and connection details. A survey should consider shading, terrain, access, drainage and nearby infrastructure. Usable land area and the proposed capacity are established through the assessment; the full plot should not automatically be treated as panel space.
Engineer the mounting and layout
Ground-mounted panels need a supporting structure and foundations designed for the site. Soil conditions, wind loads, corrosion exposure, panel orientation and row spacing affect the design. Allow for maintenance routes, drainage, cable trenches and equipment access when developing the layout.
Define electrical integration and approvals
The project scope should identify the connection point, cable distances, inverters, protection, earthing and monitoring.
